This story achieved what it set out to, if you ask me. Throughout it's entirety I experienced an all-consuming, bleak sense of hopeless distaste and self-loathing emanating from the words and actions of David; the feeling never ceasing as he navigated his way through past and present actions. His lies, his mistakes, his interactions with the Hart family he so wants to be a true part of- it made me hurt for him. I couldn't say that I quite enjoyed the story, but I certainly respected and recognized it!
